Hint to today's question---It happened in 2009 by a National Leaguer who broke his own strikeout record from the previous season.
Answer to the previous trivia question---That pitcher was Denny McLain of the Detroit Tigers. He won 31 games in 1968. Commissioner Bowie Kuhn suspended McLain for three months in 1970 for bookmaking and he was never the same pitcher after that.
